According to some sources, the Konica Hexanon AR 1.7/50mm was the best normal lens of its time. My own tests, using 24 MP FF cameras, can't support this claim. While the lens is very sharp and crispy stopped down to f5.6 or f8, it is as soft wide open as most other contemporary lenses of its class. It performs quite similarly to the Minolta MD-III 1.7/50mm, for example. The lens was made in two versions. The earllier lens barrel was larger and hevier; the later barrel had a reduced diameter, but the optical formula remained unchanged.

* klassisch aufgebauter Sechslinser in fünf Gliedern
